I've been wanting to play duo with John for many years now...in fact we hadn't played together at all in quite some time. I had an idea that to make a cohesive piece, we could do short (1 minute or so) pieces under the assumption that if you get two improvisers in a room together they will play a form. So I brought a clock and we played to that, one minute on, one minute off. The hilarious thing was that for the first 45 minutes, all we did in between was argue over whether this form was working (that will come out later on some archival record). But you can hear how it fits together, we really dig the record as a whole, so I guess it all worked out. One of the best improvised records I've made, and I think John would say the same for himself.
